Cave diving courses, such as Intro to Cave and Full Cave Diver, are advanced scuba diving programs that allow divers to explore underwater caves and caverns. These courses take place in the cenotes of Quintana Roo, Mexico, which are known for their impressive stalactite and stalagmite formations as well as their crystal-clear waters.

The Cavern Diver course is an entry-level program that introduces divers to the cave environment, providing a basic understanding of the safety and techniques necessary for diving in a cave environment. During the Cavern Diver course, divers will learn to plan and execute open-water cave dives, using reference lines and underwater communication techniques. Risk management, safety, and survival skills in the cave environment will also be taught.

The Intro to Cave course is the next level in cave diving training and focuses on improving divers’ skills in a more advanced cave environment. During the Intro to Cave course, divers will learn advanced navigation and reference line techniques, including the use of main and jump lines, buoyancy control, and gas management. Students will also learn about cave and cavern dive planning and safety, as well as the exploration and mapping of new cave systems.

The Full Cave Diver course is the highest level of cave diving training and focuses on the skills and knowledge necessary to dive in advanced caves and unknown cave systems. During the Full Cave Diver course, divers will learn about cave and cavern exploration and mapping, advanced lighting techniques, penetration dive planning and execution, and emergency situation management in the cave environment.

The Cavern Diver, Intro to Cave, and Full Cave Diver courses include both theoretical and practical classes. In theoretical classes, students will learn about cave and cavern theory, risk management, dive planning, underwater communication, and safety. In practical classes, students will learn navigation techniques, reference line use, gas management, lighting, and safety in the cave environment. Emergency simulations and rescue skills will also be taught.

Upon completing the Cavern Diver, Intro to Cave, and Full Cave Diver courses, divers will be able to explore and dive in underwater caves and caverns with safety and confidence. They will also be able to advance their technical and specialized diving training, enabling them to explore new challenges and diving destinations.

¿Qué incluye?What´s included?

In the cave and cavern course, the topics studied may vary slightly depending on the level of the course. Below are some of the common topics covered in these courses:

  1. Diving safety in caves: The necessary techniques and precautions for safe diving in a cave environment are taught, including dive planning, underwater communication, and emergency management.
  2. Cave navigation: Navigation techniques are taught, including the use of reference lines, compass use, and orientation in enclosed spaces.
  3. Buoyancy and fin control: Techniques are taught to control buoyancy and finning in a cave environment, avoiding damage to stalactite and stalagmite formations.
  4. Cave lighting: Techniques are taught to properly light the cave environment to be able to see clearly in a dark and low visibility environment.
  5. Communication in caves: Underwater communication techniques are taught to enable communication between divers in a cave environment, where visibility and sound can be limited.
  6. Gas and air management: Techniques for managing gas and air in a cave environment are taught, ensuring that divers have enough air and gas to safely complete the dive.
  7. Rescue and emergency response: Specific rescue and emergency response techniques for the cave environment are taught, including extracting injured or trapped divers and performing resuscitation maneuvers.

In general, the cave and cavern course focuses on providing divers with the necessary skills to explore the cave environment safely and responsibly, and to manage any emergency situations that may arise during the dive.
